Isham profiles McIlvaine’s life and a churchman’s era
Tom Isham recounts his life as a writer and former Marshall Advisor editor. He highlights his four serious books on religious topics and focuses on Charles Pettit McIlvaine, an Episcopal bishop, college president, and Civil War envoy to Britain. The biography, rich in sources, traces McIlvaine’s evangelistic stance, views on baptism and justification, and contrasts with high church practices.
