Floodplain reconnections completed on Rice Creek sites
Calhoun Conservation District finished five floodplain reconnections on Rice Creek to restore natural floodplain access after historic dredging. The work reduces downstream flooding and erosion, improves wildlife habitat, and aids groundwater recharge. Landowners Blaine Van Sickle Bob Brownell Joseph Shelters Bethany Vincent and Larry Cortright supported the effort with easements and study access.
