Marshall officers responded to a theft in the 300 block of Wooley Drive on December 8 at about 8 a.m. A 49 year old male victim said his 9 mm handgun was taken from his vehicle in the days prior. The gun was entered as stolen and the case remains under investigation. Call Marshall Police at 781 2596 or Silent Observer at 781 9700 with information.
The report details a Michigan State Police Marshall Post investigation into stolen packages. On December 10 a resident had several deliveries between noon and 1 p.m. The packages were left unattended. a package later disappeared. Family members found one missing and urge safe delivery spots or neighbor holds during holidays.
On December 9 at about 9 PM Marshall officers responded to a vehicle crash at Holiday Inn Express near Industrial and West Drive. A 37 year old male admitted to intoxicated driving and striking a pole. He was arrested for OWI and leaving the scene and lodged at Calhoun County Jail.
A 38 year old woman reports her car window was smashed on December 12 between 9 and 10 PM at the 1500 block of George Brown Drive and a handbag with its contents was stolen. No injuries reported. Police responded and are investigating.
Marshall officers stopped a vehicle on Hughes Street near Marshall Avenue for an obstructed plate. The 42 year old driver had an open beer can in the center console. He was not intoxicated. beer was emptied and he was cited and released with a court date for transporting open intoxicants.
Police arrested a 29 year old Kalamazoo man after witnesses pursued the suspect to Calhoun Street where he entered a residence. He exited after negotiations and was detained while identified. The victim was treated for minor injuries and property recovered. He was lodged at CCJ for strong armed robbery and parole violation.
A 31 year old man reported his front door window broken at 600 block off Michigan Ave around 3:00 a.m. Officers located a 19 year old intoxicated male nearby. Malicious destruction of property charges are being sought through the Marshall City Attorney's Office.
Battle Creek police urge residents to slow down and drive cautiously as heavy snow, icy roads, and cold temperatures cause multiple crashes. Area agencies respond to crashes and remind motorists to use caution during winter conditions.
On December 4 around 1 p.m. a report described a prior incident on November 25 in the 100 block of W Michigan Ave where an older white female was captured on video taking over 200 dollars of merchandise. Investigation is pending follow up and suspect identification.
Marshall officers respond to 5000 block of W Michigan Ave for stolen gas. Complainant says a white sedan drove off after attempting to pay with a failing credit card. Amount involved is $27. Surveillance video reviewed.
