Oaklawn announces temporary patient entrance during construction
Oaklawn Hospital outlines its Surgical Suite Project begun after last week's groundbreaking. The two story addition will add four new operating rooms 625 sq ft each 40 percent larger than current. It will enlarge pre op and recovery areas waiting room and family consult spaces and provide barrier free front entrance with expanded psych department space. Estimated cost 24.7 million. Completion targeted February 2012 for the surgery suite and Summer 2012 for the entire project.

Oaklawn Hospital Remodel Keeps Front Entrance Open Initially
As Oaklawn Hospital begins the Surgical Suite Construction Project the Madison Street front yard is fenced off with a covered walkway linking the northwest corner to the main entrance. Non emergency access remains via the Wright Medical Building Mansion Street entrance while the north Prospect Street Emergency Entrance stays open. In mid January free valet parking starts at the WMB entrance and February will shift all non emergency entry to Mansion Street with valet parking continuing. The project aims to expand inpatient psychiatry areas and boost surgeries along with labs and radiology.
