Food Bank campaign progresses amid high need in Battle Creek
The Food Bank of South Central Michigan reports 1.6 million pounds of food distributed in Calhoun County in 2014 with the year end drive continuing. About 20 000 residents are food insecure and 31 percent of meals go to children while 18 percent go to seniors. 70 percent of recipient households live below the poverty line. Cavinder stresses ongoing holiday generosity and directs donations to the Food Bank or its mailing address.
