Marshall pays off Litchfield plant debt for city power
Michigan South Central Power Agency presented Marshall with a plaque Thursday for paying off its 24 percent share of the 95.04 million construction costs for the Litchfield coal plant. City Manager Tom Tarkiewicz said the debt payoff secures 30 years of debt free operation and lower operational costs. The last payment is this month, with the remaining balance funded from a reserve. A rate study with Courtney and Associates will guide future electric rates at a December 11 work session.
