Albion downtown revival spurred by college led efforts to repurpose buildings
Four years after skepticism about a downtown hotel, Albion College and local investors launched a redevelopment push. The Ludington Building was bought and restored, inspiring others to convert abandoned properties including a Courtyard Marriott. The Albion Reinvestment Corporation formed in 2015 to revitalize the downtown, aiming to renovate about 25 storefronts and 50 upper apartments under the Big Albion Plan.
