Oaklawn announced groundbreaking for the Oaklawn Dialysis Center of Albion on North Drive. City Manager Shery L. Mitchell hailed it as a major step for regional health care and Albion’s economy, noting improved access for residents with transportation challenges.
Giant hogweed, an uncommon plant, has been identified in Calhoun County. The Calhoun County Public Health Department warns residents about its presence and advises avoidance to prevent skin irritation and other risks.
Marshall resident John Malinowski with help from Mike Darling of Darling's ACE Hardware and Marshall United Methodist Church volunteers has produced thousands of pounds of produce for those in need. The garden on his property south of Marshall grows beans beets broccoli cabbage carrots cucumbers lettuce peppers squash and zucchini. Malinowski began the project five years ago after a bumper tomato crop. He used excess tomatoes to support neighbors and community members.
