Fountain Clinic Faces Funding Slowdown Amid Patient Loss
Tekonsha Homer Olivet Bellevue and Albion report a 75 to 80 percent drop in patients, shrinking grants and backers. The Fountain Clinic runs on about $600,000 yearly and its biggest fundraiser, Night at the Louvre, aims for June 9 with a typical $45,000 raise. Executive director Mary Jo Byrne, since 2007, calls for universal health insurance and notes prior uninsured patients faced high charges without ACA protections, but credits community support and a growing dental focus as future growth areas.
