Charge sought in animal cruelty case in Athens
On April 20 at 11 57 a m Calhoun County Sheriff Animal Control with Battle Creek Police conducted an animal cruelty and neglect probe in the 600 block South Avenue A Village of Athens. A search warrant led to removal of about 113 cats in varying health and sanitation states taken to Battle Creek Animal Shelter for evaluation.

Suspects Apprehended For Breaking And Entering In Battle Creek
Battle Creek police responded to a breaking and entering report on Fremont Street. Three male suspects fled. one apprehended at scene, second by a K9 unit, third located nearby. Two were 17 and the third 16. Adults jailed at Calhoun County Jail and juvenile at Calhoun County Juvenile Home.
