The 2019 Kids Count in Michigan Data Book shows a 29.5 percent rise in confirmed child abuse and neglect since 2012, 0-17 poverty at 416 305 and 19.6 percent, and education gaps with 1 in 5 high school students not graduating on time. Gov. Whitmer backs major investments in education, preschool, and two generation policies to aid families, with policy recommendations for home visitation and expanded supports.
