Fire Hub restaurant opens with grand ceremony in Battle Creek
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder joins Nottawaseppi Huron Band leaders and FireKeepers Casino Hotel officials for the April 19 grand opening of The Fire Hub restaurant and Kendall Street Pantry. The project revives Fire Station 4 with a multi million dollar community reinvestment including an on site pantry and a plan to fund local charities with 80 percent of profits. The Kendall Street Pantry partners with Food Bank of South Central Michigan to feed needy residents while a tribal greenhouse will supply a free salad bar for downtown schools. The Fire Hub opens Tuesday to Saturday from 6 am to 6 pm and aims to extinguish hunger in Battle Creek.
