The writer recalls past community events in Acton, describing fall meetings, a well-attended gathering, and remarks on street work. The piece shifts to memories of Mill Street improvements, the tannery, and local industry changes affecting daily life.

The writer recalls a tannery era and a house on the hill once home to the Tobeys and Achenons. The old place was moved to new sites and updated by Torrance Beardmore and later by Mac Sinclair’s family. Tragedy hits when Knox, son of Torrance, dies from infantile paralysis, prompting a pause before continuing next week.
