Halton Plowing Match Draws 250 At Ideal Nelson Site
The Halton Plowmen's Association held its annual match at the Lorne W. Laing farm in Nelson Township with forty plowmen from Ontario, York, Peel, Wellington, Waterloo and Halton. Judges Alex Black and John Hargreaves praised the work amid large crowds. prizes were awarded for Esso Champions Special, Bank of Commerce and Bank of Nova Scotia trophies, and young entrants won Geo. E Elliott Specials. Banquet speaker Dr. J. B. MacLachlan discussed agriculture in Britain and Europe, and local officials and MPs attended. The event featured walking plow classes, tractor classes, a boys’ division, music, and public speeches, with Milton and Hornby prominent in winners. The closing note, odd but true, St Peter is patron saint of locksmiths.
