Transport Burned on Highway Near Slere
A heavy transport truck carrying green hides caught fire on the Silver Creek hill east of Acton yesterday morning. The driver escaped as flames enveloped the vehicle and gasoline tanks exploded, burning and scattering hides along a half mile of roadway. The truck, from Boyce Cartage Co of Toronto, delayed traffic until a second truck cleared the wreck and load began removal around 1 pm.

Barn and outbuildings destroyed near Eden Mills
Fire destroyed a barn pigpen garage and chickenhouses on an unoccupied farm at R R No 2 Guelph near Eden Mills. A 29th Battery officer saw the blaze and alerted neighbors but the strong breeze fed the fire. Only the dwelling house survived. three cows were not confirmed. The farm, once occupied by the late George Leslie, is now an executive trust. Loss may be insured.

Fatal accident mars Halton County pheasant shoot
A two day pheasant shoot near Oakville ended with the death of Jack Beadsworth, 19, as a shotgun blast struck him in the chest at about 3 45 on the H C Cox property two miles east of Oakville. His companions were Rooker, 45, and Bert Halsey, 35. The incident happened as Beadsworth appeared around a bend in a gully where the group had flushed four pheasants.
