Fifteenth Anniversary at United Church in Acton
Acton United Church marked its fifteenth anniversary of the present church and the ninety fourth of the old building with large morning and evening services. Visitors from other congregations joined the celebration as the choir and guest soloists, led by Bert Mason, provided music. Rev. G Clifton Gifford delivered the anniversary address on the theme A Christian s in Our World based on Ye are the salt of the earth from Matthew five. The sermon urged Christians to live distinctly and influence society, noting the need for a Christian attitude and preacher pew unity.

Acton Red Cross seeks names of local men enlisted overseas
The Acton Red Cross Society asks for the full names and addresses of all men from Acton and district who have enlisted for overseas service. Middleton Tuk Pass Paris would also help by sending names. Upon receipt, the Red Cross will mail weekly Pass Pass copies to each enlistee at no cost, to boost morale during the war. Relatives and friends are urged to assist and promptly report any address changes.

Acton Fair Board Sees Profit and Leadership Change
The Acton Fair Board held an adjourned meeting where Secretary Treasurer FP Wright presented a full annual financial report. It was decided to pay all prize money in full, leaving a small cash balance after expenses. Directors attended the Orangeville district meeting where L O Johnston praised the proceedings. Seven Year Old Polish Boy Hit by Car in Acton
Seven year old Michael Korczowiec from Poland was struck at Mill and Elgin Streets by a car driven by H McKenzie of Water Street. He suffered a compound collar bone fracture and a broken right leg, was treated by Dr. Cullen and x-rayed at St. Joseph's Hospital. The driver was not charged.
