Bruce Andrews Sets New Cross Country Record at Hamilton
Bruce Andrews clocked 9.26 minutes to win the mile and a half cross country championship at Hamilton on Saturday. The previous record of 9.53 belonged to Kent Young of Hamilton Delta Collegiate. More than 50 runners competed with local clubs Guelph Legion, Dundurn Park YMCA, and YMCA Track Club members fielding strong performances. John Brown finished seventh in the two mile, while John Tripp placed 23rd in the midget mile and a half. Frank Mariscak faded in the two and a half mile race, finishing 11th after a fall.
