Serious Accident to Little Tot Involving Gamble Car
Three year old Phyllis Robertson was struck by a car driven by Arthur Gamble and owned by Ray Gamble on Mill Street. The vehicle swerved into a telephone pole after hitting the child, injuring Ray and causing Phyllis to suffer a fractured skull. Phyllis remained critically ill at Guelph Hospital with gradual, uncertain improvement. all occupants escaped serious harm beyond minor injuries. The pole and car sustained damage and a second collision was narrowly avoided. The Gambles are recovering, and efforts continue for Phyllis's recovery.

Rev Dr W S MacTavish retired Presbyterian minister died suddenly at his Belleville home on October 4. Born in Nassagaweya he studied at Knox College and Toronto, served St George Deseronto Cook's Kingston St Peter Madoc, retired ten years ago to Belleville. He wrote on Christian Endeavor prohibition and church issues, chaired local education and Prohibition groups, married Margaret MacKay in 1885 producing eight children, later wed Mrs Sarah Faulkner. Survivors include widow three sons Wilfred Gordon and Clarence and four daughters, plus siblings and eight grandchildren. He held multiple church and educational posts and edited mission textbooks.
