The UFPO plans its annual meeting in the Parish Hall on Friday October 14. The Lime House Women’s Institute held a September gathering at Mrs. Meredith’s with a sick committee and first aid demo. A train wreck near the Toronto Hamilton line killed a horse and injured Alex Jacobs, while a Guelph Township barn and contents were destroyed by a Tractor fire injuring John Berner. Twenty five chickens and hogs perished in the blaze and heavy crop losses were reported. Local officials discussed a village booth and signs. The Eden Mills Institute visited Acton with a program and social lunch.

At a council meeting the twenty first finance committee report itemized payments totaling 376 94 including utilities for street and town hall lighting and pump house power. The I O D E asked to use Town Hall for an event and arrangements were made. The J A Murray bequest committee met with the council to discuss the $20000 bequest and will reconvene for full interpretation of the will.

The Parkview Athletic Club held a Thanksgiving Day track meet at Prospect Park. Juniors and seniors competed in sprints and distance events with times ranging from 11 to 64 seconds. Longtime Halton jail governor Archibald McGibbon dies at Milton
Archibald McGibbon, who led the Milton County jail for 23 years before resigning two years ago, died at his Milton home in his 84th year. He was a Knox Church elder, Conservative and Orangeman, with survivors including two sons and two daughters. Funeral held Tuesday in Milton with many county leaders attending. The second obituary notes Mrs Ann Jane Lowry of Guelph, and the funeral of R G Campbell of Sault Ste Marie with a detailed career in city service and public schools.
