Acton District News Highlights From Weekend Events
Erin fair drew residents of Acton and surrounding areas for a weekend of activities. Grade eight students were directed to observe bicycle stopping points at the school lane exit. The countryside displayed vivid fall colors and misty hills. Fae and Velma West led the United Church couples club meeting with devotional, business, and recreation segments. A Masonic Lodge first degree was conferred on Alan Leishman with local officers attending the Huntsville ceremony. Plumbing work continues at the new high school. Local contenders performed well at Canada's largest rural Class B fair in Teeswater, with McCutcheon Bros and Robert Kerr earning district laurels. Acton Rotary reported near-full attendance, plus guests at turkey dinner and session. Twenty-three exhibitors from Wellington, Halton, and Peel counties entered over 100 Shorthorn classes at Erin fair during the Thanksgiving show, with 5 G Bennett owning top championship animals.
