Standardized fire equipment installed in Acton this week
Acton fire department began a seven day standardization of equipment to match Ontario wide systems. Fire engines and hydrants were upgraded with larger standardized threads and adapters. Georgetown and Acton share conversion this week, with Empire Brass supplying fittings under a joint provincial federal funding effort. The test run occurred Wednesday at 1 am with new equipment in use.

Ida May Beatty daughter of the late Alex Beatty died at her Acton home on Tuesday September 30 in her 65th year. She lived in Acton eight years after moving from Erin Township and earlier worked at T Eaton Co Toronto. Survived by mother in Acton seven brothers and three sisters. Funeral at Acton followed by interment at Huxley Cemetery Hillsburgh.

Century Old House Is On the Move
A hundred year old house once on Mill and John Streets is moved to No 7 Highway east of Acton. Jack Frelds is overseeing the move with a foundation prepared at the new site. The building’s barn timbers remain sound and it is expected to serve another generation.
