Mobile X Ray Bus to Screen Halton Workers and Public
A mobile X ray unit will visit Acton on December 18 and 19, scanning about 1000 people for tuberculosis including high school students industrial workers and the general public. X rays will be taken at 12 Halton county centres from Acton to Palermo. The program is funded by Christmas seal sales and led by Mrs. J. L. Ellerby with local support from the Women's Institute.

Damaged Breaker Triggers City Power Cut
An 11 o’clock failure at the Guelph station caused a power outage as an oil breaker bushing failed, spraying tar and disabling the air switch. By noon, the faulty switch was bypassed and service returned to normal to cover Acton and nearby towns.

Acton Rotary club heard reports from the fun fair committee and the crippled children’s committee at the Tuesday supper meeting. A prizes purchase report was presented and a guest from Orangeville attended. A letter from district parents featured a child helped by Rotary with progress photos. Plans were made to assist another district child. An invitation was extended to attend Philip Lovejoy’s Toronto talk. President Johnny Gay presided.

Obituary: Duncan McTavish Dies at Ospringe
Duncan Neil McTavish, last survivor of the McTavish family, died October 8 at Ospringe. Born July 28, 1873 in Wiarton, he lived much of his life in the district and worked 20 years in Western Canada. He married Mary Moffat in 1917. she died in 1938. He lived in Acton until 1941, then moved to Ospringe. An employee of Beardmore and Co, he was active in Acton United Church and a past master of Walker Lodge, A F and A M. Funeral services were held at the Victoria B. Rumley funeral home with Masonic rites. interment at Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers were M. McCutcheon, Fred Baptie, Gordon Aikens, David Robertson, Alvin Fisher, and David Stewart.

West Sewers Put Under Complete Public Utility Control
Public Utilities Commission accepts full control of the $442 000 sewerage system after a long meeting with the Sewer Committee and Council ending disputes over operation costs and staff. The PUC will operate the plant and report discrepancies. repairs under 50 dollars by PUC workers, larger fixes reported to town. A by law is needed and a full equipment survey will be conducted for emergency reordering. Reeve George Leslie presided as the township plans a petition to the Department of Highways for a statutory grant covering 33 878 89 dollars in road expenditures from January 1 to August 31 1952. Mr and Mrs William Mino celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their Eden Mills home where they have resided for 28 years.
