Reverend G P Albaugh professor of church history at McMaster University was guest speaker at Acton Baptist church 114th anniversary services. He spoke at both morning and evening sessions with Pastor Ray Costerus introducing him. Congregations from Acton Hillisburgh Belfountain Cheltenham and nearby areas attended. Don Stratton soloist and Evelyn Goodwin led a choir with Charles Landsborough at the organ and his daughter Helen Landsborough on piano.

The November meeting of the Ospringe Home and School Association was held at the school on Wednesday evening November 16 with Mrs. Bert Robertson in the chair. David Gray of Rockwood gave an illustrated travelogue on the Coronation and a trip through England Scotland and continental countries. Mrs. Royce assisted at the piano for O Canada and the national anthem. In the absence of the secretary Mrs. Ross McEwan read the minutes. Rev. E. A. Hayward thanked the speaker for an enjoyable and instructive evening. Mrs. Ross McEwan and the committee served a dainty lunch. Measles and chicken pox are prevalent.

Acton Youths Unhurt In Car Crash
Three Acton youths escaped unhurt after a car crash near Guelph Sunday night. The vehicle sustained about 600 dollars in damage. Investigating Ontario Provincial Police from Guelph offered no cause for the mishap. Owner driver Herb Dodds and passengers John Creasey and Bob Coon, all of Acton, were involved.

In a short session the Turklic Utilities Commission reviewed a hydro shed extension and disposal plant inspection. Footings poured for a garage addition linked to the hydro shed, a post-hole digger arrived from Bell Telephone Co., and a carload of line poles was received. Secretary J. Young Canadian pilot Martin Marks earns private license
One of Canada's youngest pilots, Martin Marks, received his Private pilot's license after a year of training. He flew his two-passenger Brampton Flying Club plane with his parents as first passengers, reaching about 80 miles per hour. He plans for a commercial license next, needing 115 hours and radio instrument training. He attends Guelph's Loretto Academy and saved for lessons while working after school and summers.
