Local Acton residents hosted and visited relatives over the weekend with gatherings at several homes. Toronto guests included Mr and Mrs Frank Browning and Mr and Mrs Hector Guthrie among others. A hospital visit for Mrs Vic Rumley followed an accidental gunshot, with treatment at Guelph General Hospital.
Walter Linham, Esquesing township council member and deputy reeve, spoke at the Acton Junior Institute and Acton Junior Farmers meeting held at secretary-treasurer Bill Price’s home. He explained township and county council procedures, duties, and the agricultural committee’s role in advising on farming matters. Kathleen Stanley presided. Don Matthews and Jack Marshall spoke in support.
Local auction lists sale of registered jerseys, a tractor, farm equipment, feed and poultry supplies. Items include cattle gear and barnyard items to be auctioned at a single event with viewing times announced by the organizer.
Town of Acton council debates by law to establish a highway between Main Street and Elizabeth Drive and a second highway between Main Street and another lot. The notice invites affected residents to be heard at the November 21 1985 meeting. The description references Registered Plan 603 and expropriation under By-law 1032. The reading dates show first on October 1988 and second on October 24 1985.
