Holy Name Society Holds First Meeting in Acton Parish Hall
The Holy Name Society of St Joseph's parish Acton held its first general meeting in the parish hall on Sunday evening November 17 with guests Russell O Neal and Emile Demeria of the Hamilton Diocesan Holy Name Union. Father Morgan opened with a prayer and Mr Marthy Coles chaired. Reports were read by Henry Deveau and Hugh Lowe, with remarks from Ray Gatenby and introductions by Father Morgan. A brief address by guest speaker O Neal followed, and Reno Braida led a short entertainment program. A buffet lunch, prepared by wives of the volunteers, concluded the event.

Seventy four church visitors joined Knox Presbyterian for an every member stewardship drive on Sunday. Viautora outlined church work and committee chair Dr A J Buchanan reported pledges for 1988 totaling about $35555 weekly, with returns still pending. Knox church is among 12 Guelph Sector congregations conducting audi visitation and officials hope weekly offerings will exceed the $18,760 budget.

Acton Singers Medalists At Guelph Kiwanis Festival
Acton Singers earned medals at the Guelph Kiwanis Music Festival held at Chalmers Street United Church. Jon Hurst tied for second in the oratorio class for unchanged voices earning a silver medal, while Eddie Long won a silver finishing second to David Farnell of Georgetown.
