County Establishes Civil Defence Committee and Co ordinator
Halton County Council passed a by law to inaugurate a County Civil Defence committee. Brigadier G B R Smith of Oakville will coordinate with Warden Tom Millward Bronte Reeve Hargrave Acton Deputy Reeve Cunningham Milton Reeve Stan Allen Georgetown and Deputy Reeve Alec Phillips Trafalgar to appoint annually. The group follows Brigadier Whitelaw’s October request and may grant 2 8250 for the Oakville Trafalgar Bronte area. A clerk’s report notes 1320 Juvenile and Family Court cases from January to October 31 1987 across 37 Courts with an average of two hearings per case.

Special Church Service For Flying Officer Ronald Rolston
A memorial service was held at Acton United Church for Flying Officer Ronald G. Rolston who died in a plane crash over Germany. The service featured Rev G S Adams and a sermon by Lt E Colley RCA London Ontario. Rolston, son of Mr and Mrs James Rolston Acton, was active in church and Scout circles and starred in local sports. He left a wife Anne and a six month old daughter Loretaine Elizabeth. He is survived by his parents and five sisters. Interment was in the RCAP cemetery at Choley France.

Authorize Road Extension for Industry and Water Site
The council authorized the road committee to extend McDonald Boulevard to provide access to the proposed XK Porter industrial site and to proceed with a water extension from the third site to Beal Street. An earlier estimate for the project was 984,000 including a pump house and equipment. Surveyors are busy this week with site plans for the new industry.
