Nassagaweya Council Posts $25 Wolf Bounty
Nassagaweya township council approved a by law adding damages by wild animals to livestock losses and set a $25 bounty for each wolf killed in December 1953 to January 1954. The bounty runs with hunts organized by the Halton County Game Warden and is in addition to Ontario provincial rewards. A separate by law limits cabin trailer use to 60 days as a place of residence.

Best Debaters Public Speaker Chosen At Juniors Competition
Hatton Junior Partners staged a debating and public speaking program at Milton High School on Friday evening November 6. Debates covered county fairs versus local fairs and competition versus cooperation with teams from Norval and Palermo, yielding Norval and Palermo as top debaters. Barbara Cunningham and Jean Paton named best debaters and Hatton Junior will send them to the Provincial Debating. Daughters of Knox Hold November Meeting At Home
The Daughters of Knox met at the home of Misses June and Jacqueline Watkins on November 4. Mrs. Buchan led with final chapters of the in Inez quiz and a story of WMS work in Rover district. Officers for the coming year were elected led by past president D. Deyhans with Elizabeth Jang Int as president and Jackie Watkins as vice president. Members prepared wool dolls for newborns bound for Halifax as part of New Canadians aid. A Halloween lunch concluded the gathering.

Cecil Maplesden, a worker at Eden Mills, rescued a child from the mill waterway last Friday. While loading sawdust, he heard cries, reached a girl clinging to a plank above the intake, grabbed her coat and pulled her to safety as suction held her rubber boots to the grate. The accident happened shortly before noon with Harry Turner aiding nearby.

Struck From Behind While Riding Bike At Beardmore's Shop
A cyclist from Guelph, 41, riding daily to Acton, was struck from behind by a motor vehicle near Beardmore's shop on the Guelph-Hamilt on high ay. He suffered serious head injuries and was listed in critical condition. The driver, Joseph Fraser, 24, of Hespile, faces charges for failing to remain at the scene and appeared in Guelph magistrates court. Bail set at 500 cash or 5000 sureties. remanded to Wednesday as more details emerge.
