Parents Volunteer To Teach Classes At Lory School
November meeting of Lory Home and School Association held in the school on November 11 opened with God Save the Queen. Mrs S Bowen read the psalms. A euchre report was given and a discussion led to parents volunteering to teach manual training and sewing on Friday afternoons. A lunch committee was appointed for the next meeting. The business session closed with a plea to fund Christmas cards and wrapping paper for the school. Lunch was served by Mrs Watkins, Mrs McPheduin, and Mrs Bowen.

Acton High School Commencement Awards Held In Auditorium
The annual Acton High School commencement filled the auditorium over two evenings with diplomas, rugby cup presentation to Acton, valedictory address, athletic demonstrations, and a school play. Student leaders welcomed families, with certificates and scholarships awarded to many seniors, including Turner, McCrea, Lambert, and Jang, as well as proficiency and service recognitions. The interschool field day cup went to Beth Ritchie, and the football team returned after a standout season. The drama trophy was awarded to Ariene Gorton for The Red Lamp.
