Woman's Association Sends Food Parcels to England Groups
The United Church Woman's Association held its monthly meeting at Mrs D. H. Lindsay's home with Mrs L Agar presiding. Boxes of food were mailed to England and Mrs Fuller sent a letter of appreciation along with a book on Canterbury Cathedral. Two Groups Tour Wool Processing Plants in Acton
About fifty second year textile students from Hamilton Technical School and executives from Newlands of Galt toured the Wool Combing Corporation and Canadian Wool Co in Acton. Guides N Baird J H Boulton and H Boyes outlined plant processes and a tour covered warehouses sorting washing combing backwashing warding and oil delivery in Tops and Nails. Ianoline extraction was demonstrated and questions were answered. Guests included Chas Kirkness of Mason Knuying Co and the Free Press editor.

Council Engineers Inspectors Confer on a $64 Cost Question
Acton council held a two hour session with contractors inspectors and engineers to resolve a grading dispute in the Wartime Housing subdivision. They found road grades changed affecting 26 inch floor elevations and planned to study additional blocks on two foundations while deferring further road work until spring. An unexpected earth removal increase may add 3500 dollars to the project. officials questioned funding since it was not in the debenture issue.

Remembrance Day Services Draw Crowd in Acton Under Rain
A heavy autumn rain did not deter a sizeable Acton crowd from the Remembrance Day parade and ceremonies. The march began at the Legion Hall led by the Acton Boys and Girls' Band, with wreaths placed by the province, municipality, Legion branches, and other groups. The service at Knox Church featured Rev. J. Anderson’s address urging lasting peace through sacrifice and unity, followed by remarks on remembering all who served. Meanwhile, news arrived of the deaths of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Norton in a lake incident near Sioux Lookout, with bodies recovered and burial being arranged for the Norton family.

St Josephs Church Completes Renovation Of Edifice
Acton's St Josephs completes a major renovation of its aging church. Under Rev Father Morgan the exterior received green shingles and copper eaves while the interior gained green and red tile work, ivory walls, a blue ceiling, and a restored main altar.
