Y's Men's Halloween Party Delights Acton Community

Acton residents enjoyed a Halloween event organized by the Y's Men's Club on Friday. Children collected tokens for prizes amid a parade and band music, with winners in multiple age groups and costume contests. Net receipts were $139.76 against $140.00 expenditures, leaving a $1.25 short.

Campbellville Bank Robber Sentenced To Twenty Years

Supreme Court jury convicted John Krachareliach of armed robbery at the Campbellville Bank of Nova Scotia last year. He received a twenty year penitentiary term. Co-defendants Tony DeCecca and Uarth Dusty Miller face related charges.

Remembrance Day Services In Acton And Nearby

Remembrance Day events are planned across Acton including a parade from the Legion Club Rooms on Main Street at 6 30 pm with Acton Boys and Girls Band, wreath laying at the soldiers memorial, and a second service at Knox Presbyterian Church with multiple church officials and Rev. Capt. J. Anderson M C delivering the address. Afternoon services will also be held in Rockwood and Nassaganaweg a.

Wartime housing grades debate at Acton council

Acton Council met with Engineers Evans and Anderson to decide whether to keep the original wartime housing street grades or raise houses to meet the adjusted grade. Evans urged maintaining the original grade since houses were built to it, while correspondence supported the engineer's plan. Remembrance Day holiday requests were denied for consistency with other municipalities. The curling rink lease for wool storage was deemed unlikely and the Fair Board was to control land where the old fair building stood.

Narrow Escape as House Collapses During Foundation Work

Builders around Albert Clarris's frame house on Church Street narrowly avoided injury Sunday when Jacked supports failed and the structure sank. Cement blocks beneath the house gave way, bricks and dishes broke, and two end chimneys were smashed as workers watched while plans were made to reerect the building.

Knox So-Ed Club Halloween Party at Church

On Wednesday evening October 29 the Knox So-Ed Club held a Halloween party. Group 1 ran the event with prizes won by Mrs Wm Neshit and Wm Mainprize for costumes. A Siam visit by the King and Queen entertained attendees as refreshments followed and a Siamese prayer closed the meeting.

Acton School Board Sets Attendance Prize And Staff Pay

At the November meeting trustees discussed awarding a prize for best attendance and approved daily rates for supply teachers at $7 for Public School staff and $9 for High School staff. They decided to return surplus cadet uniforms as cadet training ended and to await a refund from the Militia Department.

United Church Anniversary Services Mark Dublin District Event

An Acton United Church anniversary service featured unity and cooperation themes.
