Women Institute Meeting in Limehouse Deliberates War Work
On Nov 6 the Limehouse Women's Institute met at Mrs A W Benton s home with eleven members present despite rain. They set dates for the third and fourth nutrition class sessions and reported jam purchases for the year totaling four jars. War work contributions to Ontario Federated Institutes were approved, and a social evening hosted by Mrs F Shotbourne s home was planned with committee members named. A display showcased wartime items and the meeting closed with the National Anthem and a social hour.

Mrs Glenn Britton is ill in Hamilton Hospital. Pinegrove Busy Bees held November 5 meeting at Mrs Chris Frank’s with good attendance. They quilted and knitted, planned hospital slippers and refugee aid for London England. Card parties discussed. Items sold. tickets for quilts discussed. Reading by Mrs King Alfied Men. Reg Finney to be included on boys overseas hat. Thanks to Mrs Davenport, Mrs Martin for bereavement. Ten dollars donated to Red Cross for woollen blankets. Meeting closed with God Save the King and hostess served refreshments.

Oakville Chronicle: 50th Anniversary and Dockyard Christening
On November 3 1941 Mr and Mrs W J Hawke celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. William Richardson of Pine Ave was badly hurt when he fell into a scalding vat at the Oakville Basket works. Two international pick-pockets were arrested at Lakeside Park during the christening ceremony for H M C S Oakville. Cheers and sirens accompanied the champagne bottle break as the ship was christened.

Gentlemen's Night At Institute Brings Raffle Plans And Red Cross Gifts
Ospringe news records a Gentlemen's night at the school where Miss Isabelle Scanlon presided and Miss Dorothy McKenzie read minutes. Twelve dollars was voted to the Red Cross for blankets, three dollars from other friends. A bake sale was postponed a week, a cachre and dance for war work was planned, with Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. McCutcheon, Mrs. Brydon and Mrs. McKenzie in charge. Bingo games followed, with sandwiches, pie and coffee served. Community ladies cut Red Cross quilt blocks at Mrs. Brydon's. another session is planned for next Tuesday. Several local residents noted: Mrs. I. Tovell in Erin, J. Stewart visiting King family in Orton, D. B. McKinnon accompanying Guelph couple to Freeman, E. Peters moving to Shiloh, Garbo family moving to a Townline farm. Doris Smith remains in Guelph General Hospital, wishes for a speedy recovery.

Warden Leatie Kerns Councillor Colin Smith Jack Tuck Chas Rymal and Delmar Baker left Saturday on a door hunting trip. Boys who damaged Birch Ave on Halloween night were brought to the police office Monday and settlements for the damage were arranged by their parents. Night Constable Anderson suspects three local safe crackers arrested in Guelph on Friday as the ones frightened from behind a store here. Two appeals from the Court of Revision decisions on the 1942 assortment roll were filed with the County Judge regarding New Street property and two Water Street houses. Jack Gibbons won the sidewalk and sewer bid on Henderson Ave extending existing sewer. Gibbons bid 1306.40. Cooke bid 1419.80.
