Knox Church Marks 103rd Anniversary Celebrations
Knox Presbyterian Church marked its 103rd anniversary with large Sunday crowds. Rev Findlay Gordon Stewart of St Andrew's Hitch emer and Guelph Presbytery led two sermons from Revelation 21:1 and John 15. Miss Cherry Watts of Weston sang at both services. visitors joined Knox from out of town. A turkey dinner and variety show followed, featuring John Rockwood, Miss Frances Spears, Rev A Calder, and other performers. The program concluded with benediction by Rev Anderson.

Royal Winter Fair Announces Market Section Change
The Royal Winter Fair adds a market division with a three weight based dressed beef carcass class system. Classes cover SOS to 536 625 lbs and 685 lbs and up as live market animals may enter dressed weights. Prize awards increase and a new freezer exhibit space will host the market section with champion and reserve champion awards in the hog classes.

Acton School Board approves Scout Home site and needs
Acton School Board Chairman Lovell presided as Trustees Chapman Baird Jones and Oakes attended. A Scout Home accommodation was approved on a 40 foot frontage beside the school lane at the southwest end. McKenzie reported desks from Rockwood and a plan for more, a Parents Night on November 18, and a call for a Home and School Cub. An extra classroom is needed in 1949. The board also seeks a telephone for the High School to curb messenger service and long distance calls. Finances approved various repairs supplies and services totaling substantial figures. Blackouts Continue Unless Quota Met at Acton Utilities Meeting
Acton Public Utilities Commission met Tuesday evening with Chair Hansen presiding. Wilson reported Acton’s daily 20 000 kwh quota exceeded by about 800 kwh except Monday. One hour blackout to continue if longer outages aren’t approved. Final warnings to merchants not complying with regulations and possible subpena charges for reopening switches. The War Veterans Night at Walker Lodge No. 321 AF and A.M. on Monday evening November 8 featured candidate Thomas E. Watson and a ceremony led by Worshipful Master T. M. McCutcheon. Announcement from Oakville reports Honorary Captain John Jock Anderson now rejoining the Canadian Army Active Force. He will serve as Avon Chaplain at Western Ontario Area Headquarters in London. He led Knox Presbyterian Acton from 1947 to 1949 and served as Padre with the Highland Light Infantry during Normandy.

No Criminal Cases in Halton Fall Assizes
A civil action ended in a voluntary settlement with the defendant paying 750 dollars to the plaintiff Mrs. Cora Edyth Wheeler after her dog was attacked by Miss Myrtle Field’s dog in Milton. The case followed testimony about the March 9 1946 incident and prior dog incidents. The judge, Mr Justice J Geneat, oversaw the proceedings before a partial jury.
