Nominations will be Friday November 24 and elections Monday December 4 with polling at Town Hall and YMCA. A 24 inch Mill Street culvert will be laid with highways labor and materials paid by the municipality. Chief Harrop raised juvenile delinquency concerns.

Mrs. E Caldwell spoke at the Acton Women's Institute meeting at Mrs. Geo Lantz home. President Mrs Lappin presided as topics on Home Economics were discussed. Mrs Caldwell urged mothers to assume personal responsibility for homemaking and child care. A delegate was named for the Arena Convention in Guelph. A cheerful solo by Mrs Thomas Mason closed the program.

Hallowe'en Party at Dublin Literary Society
The Dublin Literary Society hosted a Hallowe'en party with the Nation Film Board Pictures. President Mr. Jordan opened the meeting and after business the costumes were judged with winners Mr. Cutts, Dorothy Massey, Helen Somerville, Irene Nelle, and Viola McIsaac. Helen Somerville and Irene Nelle performed tap dances and four schoolgirls sang. Harvey Burt led the pictures. Lunch followed and a social hour concluded the event.

Remembrance Day Services Planned Across Communities
Acton Nassagaweya and Rockwood prepare Remembrance Day events coordinated by the Acton and District Branch of the Canadian Legion with municipal support. In Acton a parade from Town Hall led by Acton Boy's Band will reach the Soldiers' Monument for a 10:50 am Part One, then a Union Church service. Nassagaweya holds a Sunday afternoon program with Part One at four o’clock at the Monument, followed by a church service at the Presbyterian Church.

Word Received of Acton Casualties During the Week
Mrs Angus McDonald of R. RB. No. 4 Acton received word that her son Pte Norman H. McDonald was missing in action since October 17 serving with the Canadians in Belgium. He enlisted in April 1943 overseas since January. He trained at Toronto Brantford Camp Borden and Debert. Besides his mother seven brothers and two sisters await word. others in Milton Georgetown and Acton areas. Trooper Campbell Price was wounded October 28 in Holland with crushed right foot and burns. three Price brothers also overseas. Pte Melvin Cutting wounded August 26 and missing September 6 now reported German POW in Camp Stalag.

In Acton and District bond buyers celebrate the Seventh Victory Loan with prizes for estimating the time to reach half the objective. Jacqueline Surby and Mrs Robson won chickens, P. B. Ryan and R. F. Chandler won turkeys and geese, with Miss Marjorie Norton and Jack Robeon helping ensure holiday dinners. The tannery whistle would have decided another outcome, but that will not now occur.
