Labour Congress of Canada endorses political action committee plan
The Trades and Labour Congress of Canada wrapped up its Toronto convention with a push for forming political action committees within local unions to influence national policy. The group urged a non-partisan, constructive role and discussed a national PAC to back postwar goals including full employment and social security. Premier Drew allied Liberals and Conservatives sent speakers. William David Black, longtime Ontario legislator, died at 76 in Kingston.

A quiet autumn ceremony held by Rev. W. G. Kitchen united Jean Kirkwood of Guelph to Harry Hortop of Everton Ont. The bride wore a blue frock with bouvardia and Sweet heart roses. both families attended. A reception followed at the W. C. A. and the couple left for Ottawa before settling in.

Pte John Hilts Wounded in Belgium During War Service
Pte John Hilts 19, son of Mrs Alice Hilts of Rockwood, was wounded in action October 6 while serving with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry in Belgium. He trained at Ipperwash, enlisted eight months ago, and previously worked at Guelph Soap. His brother Donald also serves in Belgium and sister Margaret with CWAC is in Regina.

Memorial Service For Sgt Donald Titt In Rockwood
Memorial service plans are set for Sgt Donald Titt, a Rockwood native killed on active service October 22 1944 in England. Born 1925 in Detroit he lived in Rockwood with his parents Cyril and Mrs Titt and attended local schools before enlisting in the RCAF. A memorial service is scheduled for 2 30 p m Sunday November 5 at the Rockwood Anglican Church with burial in Chester England noted.

Acton Halloween Parade Led by Boys Band

Military Funeral for Sgt Pilot A M Taylor Held at Stratford

Dray horse escapes from storage well near Hill home
