Firefighters respond to false alarm near 25 Sideroad
Acton Firefighters answered a Thursday call around 9.20 pm reporting a ham fire along 25 Sideroad but found no trace of fire after a full patrol. The rural truck retraced the route and several phone calls were made to trace the blaze before crews concluded it was a false alarm after nearly an hour of searching.

Lively Acton resident Mrs Lantz marks 90th birthday
Ares G T Lantz, longtime Acton resident and former night operator, celebrated her 90th birthday in Knox church Mary Ellen Anderson room with family and friends. Guests came from Detroit Toronto Oakville Burlington Willardale Hamilton and many Ontario towns. She received a framed plaque from Premier Robarts a telegram from Prime Minister Trudeau and birthday cards, and more than 100 greetings.
