Acton Seeding Delays Amid Cool Spring Weather
Local farming faces a late spring as seeding has barely begun due to cool conditions. Farmers in the district report a very late spring, with ground leveling work ongoing at the old grist mill site on Mill Street after the mill's demolition earlier this year. Acton United Church’s Sunday School earns spotlight in a national brochure on duplex envelopes. A Mother's Day tea at the Legion Hall raises about 40 dollars under the Ladies Auxiliaries. Mrs Vera Johnson Henry, Detroit writer of the year, is a former Acton resident living in Highland Park Michigan. She was born in Forest Ontario. Digging near the corner of MIA and John Streets draws crowds as a large shovel operates before a snow fence. Pastor Ray Costerus of the Baptist church finishes his McMaster University arts year and will focus on ministry work next summer.
