Rotary Club Peanut Day nets best success at Acton parade
Rotary Club's third annual Peanut Day raised about 575 in net revenue from peanut sales and merchants support. Funds primarily aid crippled children work. Parade featured six local girls leading, followed by the Acton Citizens Band and the Planters float with oversize peanut props. Two nine year olds Carmen Woodburn and Jack Hinton each bid 200 000 for the prize and won. The club sold about 57 cases of large peanuts and moved 1W cases of three tin party packs. Vic Masters and Jim Ledger supervised the event.

Child Injured In Mill Street Accident
Four year old Jacqueline Calder daughter of Mr and Mrs John Calder of Church Street suffered a fractured skull after noon Wednesday when she darted between parked cars on Mill Street and hit a moving vehicle. Driver A J Denny proprietor of Acton Tax stopped his car and carried the unconscious girl to Dr D A Garrett then to Toronto Sick Children's Hospital. Dr Garrett confirmed a skull fracture with no other injuries. Constable R P Robbins investigated the crash near the Mill and Town Street corner where children had been watching earth moving by a power shovel.

Acton Man Escapes Injury After Rollover Crash
An Acton man, Les Macswain, was uninjured early Tuesday when his northbound car left Base Line near Milton Brick Copahee and rolled into a ditch. Damages are estimated at 1500 dollars. Earlier, near Blue Springs side road, two cars involved in a separate collision caused about 60 dollars in damage and minor activity with drivers Robert W RR 1 Acton and Jam Lomgenga RR 2 Rock described in stray directions.

Ivy fols and their mothers attended the Cradle Roll tea at Knox Presbyterian church on Wednesday afternoon May 5. Mrs. E J Hassard the WMs president and the ladies of the congregation hosted the event.
