Esquesing Township council approved a five room addition at Speyside school pending Ontario Municipal Board and Department of Education approval. A two man delegation urged road changes on 27 sideroad near Silvercreek and discussed the dumpsite problem.
Rink Vlietstra son of Mr and Mrs Sietse Vlietstra of 210 Churchill Road N graduated Friday from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute Toronto in Metallurgy. He begins work at Dofasco Steel Plant in Hamilton after moving from Holland to Acton in 1953. He attended high school in Acton and Guelph before the three year Toronto program. He has three brothers and two sisters all in Canada. He attended graduation exercises in Institute theatre Friday.
Action stalled for two weeks as Acton Planning Board reviews plans to separate five acres for a private home and possible subdivision. Griese proposals tied to street allowances and council–planning consultant input, with a full plan of subdivision advised for the entire farm. Rezoning, official plan approval, and minor accounts discussed at June meeting.

Wayne Ridley son of Jack Ridley and the late Mrs Ridley graduates from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute after a three year business administration course. He was among 150 graduates and begins work in Dominion Electrohome's personnel department in Kitchener. His father Jack and brother Randy attended. He was a popular athlete at Acton high schools and participated in field days.
A high pressure water system mounted on a truck unit from Canadian Concord Justice Division, Virgil Ontario, was hired by council to flush storm and sanitary sewers. Town workers assist in flushing as buildup of sand and sediment is quickly dispersed. The unit replaces fire hose pressure from hydrants, proving more satisfactory over the past two weeks.

Stefan Flisnik of Acton was burned when he fell into a hot squor vat at Beardmore and Co. A fellow worker Dennis Crooks pulled him out. ambulance and doctor care followed at Guelph General Hospital. He is a married father of two, with children Donna and Fred.
