Milton Heights Name Origin From Grace Church Rector's Suggestion

The village near Milton, once called Smokey Hollow and then Terra Cotta, earned the name Milton Heights after Rev George McQuillan of Grace Church and All Saints Church suggested the idea while noting the escarpment backdrop. Settlement grew around a Sixteen Mile Creek sawmill with a unique downhill log chute operated by ox teams, initially owned by John MacGregor with lawyer David Scott, known locally as Clubfoot Dave.
