Acton sees a sharp upswing in building permits totaling 488 300 for the month the largest in two years. The yearly total nears 1958 figures with 1058 permits, including 16000 and 390 for demolition. 1950 and 1957 yearly totals reached 270 800 and 293 145 respectively with a peak of 572 000 in 1945 and 1 735 100 across the fur years.
Carl Larocqui building supervisor for the Duston Kaw plant reports progress on the IDK Porter Company Limited project. Concrete footings and cement blocks are in place, brick work has begun, roof deck about one third complete, and insulation and panelling installation slated to start today with roughly 40 workers on site.

Delomon Goldman of Acton escaped injury when his car collided with a vehicle driven by Wilton Gardpour of Toronto in Georgetown last Friday evening. Corporal James Bilborrow investigated and stated Goldman’s eastbound car did not see Gardpour’s westbound car turning onto Hexamptog Drive. Gardpour’s car sustained $290 damage and Goldman’s $200.
Rob MacArthur of the Manitoulin Expositor reported a photographer's camera was stolen from beside the pulpit at the United Church in Little Garrent on Manitoulin Island during a fare wall peerty. MacArthur had set the camera down to take a gesture and found it missing upon return.
Rev R H Costerus of Acton Baptist Church announced his plan to leave Acton on Tuesday in April to take charge of churches at Delhi and Teeters ie Me Costerus, born in Shanghai, educated there, wartime POW, later studied in Canada and at McMaster University, ordained in Acton, active in Boy Scouts, directed Oneida Lake Erie summer camp, and now moving to serve in Delhi and Teeters with family in tow.
The Ontario MPP proposes a park site and road plan linking Wellington and Dulferan areas to a new highway corridor. He notes a large gravel deposit near Highway 2 and the Need for a road to support development while urging careful review of land use and forest preservation.
OPP report details a rear end collision on Highway 7 at the Fourth Lane of Exquesng Saturday night. Drivers JW El Lotte of Toreanty and FW Andersen of Hamilton were involved. Elliott reportedly turned left when the crash occurred causing $450 in damage.
