Tarzwell Promoted to Flight Lieutenant in RCAF
Flying Officer Jack A. Tarzwell 35 of Georgetown and Acton has been promoted to Flight Lieutenant effective July 1. He began his Air Force career in July 1941 and served as airframe mechanic with 405 Pathfinder Squadron in Bomber Command. He later became a navigator with No. 357 RAF Squadron. After a 1946 return to Canada and graduation from Queen's University, he rejoined the RCAF in 1950 in the armament branch and served as an armament officer with 416 Sabre Squadron in Europe before returning to the Directorate of Armament Engineering at Air Force Headquarters in Ottawa.

Highway Crash Damages Two Cars Near City
District police reported a minor accident just west of here on No 25 highway Tuesday afternoon involving two cars. Sadie Moore Moffatt drove one vehicle and Guiseppi Depiori from Guelph drove the other when the latter slowed in front of the Moore car. Damages were about 30 dollars to the Moore vehicle and about 300 dollars to the Depiori vehicle.

A rash of petty thievery and a surge in school enrollment fill a town paper. Thieves stole a tubeless tire from a Thompson Garage lot and hub caps from a car on Bower Ave. A park booth was broken into and about 12 dollars in snacks taken. Three juveniles were required to restitution. Over 600 children romped from the public school this week as summer vacation begins. Enrolment in Halton county schools is rising and the Acton high school adds fearfully to 10 teachers next year.
