E E Barr reported a large swarm from his chimney. Colin MacColl recovered 30000 bees from a hedge and later shook another swarm from a maple limb on the Barr property. He suspects more bees remain and will return when weather warms.

New Chain Link Fence Approved in Prospect Park
Acton Hoard of Parks Management approved replacing the worn board fence on the south side of Prospect Park with 350 feet of chain link starting at the beach area. Nearby residents will be notified of the plan and the fall completion of the remaining fencing. The park booth tender was awarded to Jack Hatch of Acton Hobby and Sporting Goods with a $50 concession fee plus water and hydro costs. He leaves Malton on June 28, stays with grandparents in Rotterdam Haul for three weeks, and his brother takes over his route during his absence. He travels by jet and will reach Amsterdam in six hours to visit family.

The hyd ro superintendent Doug Mason killed a 30 pound snapping turtle that damaged his garden and flower beds near Fairy Lake. He earlier shot a smaller snapping turtle that weekend. The monster measured a head larger than a man's fist and had bear like claws.
