Proudfoot Hollow and the Legacy of Dundas Street
Halton County history recalls Proudfoot Hollow once a bustling center near Dundas Bridge on Highway No 5. The Sixteen Mile Creek ravine powered mills, a stagecoach hub, and a three story hotel, then declined after railways and Oakville’s growth, leaving lilac and memories in a now silent landscape. The region links to Governor Simcoe era roads and Mackenzie’s flight, with next week’s note promising Boston Church.
