First Local Decoration Day Success in Acton
Decoration Day in Acton drew strong local and visiting attendance with multiple organizations co hosting. The parade from the CNR station to Fairview cemetery featured bands and Scouts, followed by a wreath at the Cenotaph and a sermon by Rev Barker. Two Eden Mills crash injures three people in Acton area
An early Sunday crash on a county road near Eden Mills sent Motoring trio Patricia Teasdel of Acton Howard F Cole and Fred Tolton of Eden Mills to hospital with injuries. The demonstrator car was wrecked after a passing vehicle forced Teasdel off the road and the car rolled into a ditch before stopping. Teasdel and Tolton were released later that day while Cole remained in hospital with head injuries.

Acton Lawn Bowling Opens Season With Jitneys
The Acton lawn bowling club opened season events with a postponed rainout rescheduled for last Friday and a Tuesday jitney session. About 18 bowlers attended the first night with games and beginner instruction, lunch served, and proceeds to the crippled children’s fund. Arlie White and Mrs. H. Helwig won the first tournament with 25 and plus 13. Harry Rogers and Mrs. J. Inglis were second with 24 and plus seven, as ten teams competed.

Urban Board Talks On Ind Promotion
Nine member North Halton Urban Board met in Acton with Acton Milton and Georgetown representatives to discuss industrial promotion. Severe Monday storms caused a barn fire at Omagh where Johnston Neelands barn burned to the ground after three lightning strikes. Eight cattle at Geo Job’s Acton farm were killed under a tree as hay and wheat fields lay flattened. A beech tree toppled near H C Kynock’s home, and a housewife near Oakville was knocked unconscious by a nearby lightning strike. Power outages affected Acton briefly.
