Garden Parties and a Rail Train Rescue Highlight Busy Week
Several events and incidents fill the week: thefts reported at Hewotwen and Acton factories on Chiral Street, a planned garden party in the park next week with Canaadian premier winter entertainer Mr. Duncan Cowan, and two more garden party dates in June and July. A derailment near Comfield caused four hours of track blockage, with Engineer Edward Fitzpatrick signaling safely and passengers moved to remaining cars to reach Guelph Junction. Inspector Reevely later exposed a carload dispute from London to Fort Credit, leading to a Toronto seizure valued around $35,000. Womens Institute summer meeting featured talks on community value and local lore, and a court decision upheld a Tebow case conviction over unlawful liquor on private property.
