A child fell into Fairy Lake while playing near the water’s edge and died after about an hour of rescue efforts. Frederick Broderick, born in London on November 4 1920, had recently moved with his family to Cameron Street. Funeral services were held at St Alban's Church with interment in Fairview Cemetery as the Gibbons family grieves.
The annual Miss Lauretta Gray Mus Bac recital at Knox Church School room drew pupils, parents, and community members. The program featured numerous dances, songs, duets, recitations, and a concluding concert by Miss Gray and her students, with a bouquet presented in appreciation of her work.
Sunday morning a baby boy was found in a culvert outside the village of Adtan near the new highway close to Che thirt Mine. Father and local officials, including Dr McNiven and Mr Massard, examined the scene. authorities announced further inquiries and a meeting to determine responsibility for the incident.
