Acton edged Brampton 12 to 3 in the Milton game before dropping a close one on the Halton County slate. Leppar pitched Acton’s first game. Acton travels away from home Saturday for another contest.
Acton crushed Brampton 12 to 3 behind Bus Morton on the mound and a string of timely hits. Lindsay launched Acton’s first homer of the year, with Walters and Lindsay adding two base hits each as Acton pulled away after a rough start.
Acton United Church prepares four week Jubilee services starting Sunday with the dedication of a new organ by Rev. VT Albert Moore. Moore will preach at both morning services and evening dedicatory events. Organist C Franklin Legge of Old St Andrews Toronto will play the instrument. soprano Mrs Legge will be guest soloist.
On Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Havill quietly observed their fiftieth anniversary at their Agnes Street home in Oakville with friends and their three grandchildren present. Married in Acton fifty years ago, they spent life here, thriving in business and community service, with Mr Havill as a hardware store owner and Mrs Havill active in the Women's Institute and School Board. Citizens extend congratulations and wish many more years of life in Acton.

The regular meeting at Mr H McCutcheon’s home presided by Mrs Gamble appointed Mix Ball and others to the Children’s Aid Society and Y M C A Ladies’ Associate Board. Invitations extended for Achievement Day in Milton and an O A Co event. A paper on Canadian Industries by Mrs Gamble and a solo by Mrs Bishop noted. Social time followed with thanks to hosts.
Last Sunday eight young men were ordained at St. Gilles United Church in Hamilton during the Hamilton Conference meeting. Acton’s J Elvin Gumble joined the ministry after completing his studies. Ontario Hydro commissions show strong farm electrification in rural districts led by Guelph Acton and Milton with 47 new customers in winter and spring, 43 of them farms. Across rural Ontario 447 new farm and hamlet customers joined, out of 1 623 projected for the year. Units of power offered include below cost pricing and free power for radios and washing machines. The districts cover 280 100 and 100 square miles with 9 41 9 39 and 74 51 miles of line serving 864 hydro users and 401 farm dwellers and 503 hamlet dwellers. Millage for 1934 planned new lines: 17 miles total across districts.
Harding Price of Acton drives to a wedding in West Garafraxo when his car overturns on a sideroad four miles northeast of Ferguson. Five people escape serious harm after the vehicle spills occupants Jesse McEnery Mrs McEnery Willa Price and Gordon Price. Price suffers hand cuts but attends the wedding with others uninjured.
Roy Locksley CFRB Musical Director will travel to Acton to judge final entries for the YMCA amateur contests. Cars leave at six for the broadcast at seven. About 2000 spectators may be accommodated at CFRB studios with plans for the Acton broadcast finale.
The annual Holstein Field Day and picnic at Ferndale Park, Peel County, drew about 400 attendees on Saturday June 6. Halton Association officers reported a highly successful event with judging, speeches by regional leaders, and livestock competitions, plus sports including a tug of war.

The Acton Y M C A board chose officers for the year with honors for G A Dills as Honorary President and Dr E J Nelson as President. R H Elliott was First Vice President and Chas Kirk Debose co Second Vice President D A MacRae secretary and H I G Fraser treasurer. A committee was set to handle broadcast arrangements with Jack Reid and Allan Marshall.
The Halton Plowmen's Association held a ploughing match at Allan Dixon’s Nelson Township farm Friday with fourteen young competitors under twenty. Official judge Galt’s N. G. McLeod praised the work as top ridges were produced. winners included Kenneth Peddie Craig Reid John Alexander and others from Nagsagaweya Trafalgar and surrounding areas. A large crowd observed the day with commendations for the boys effort.
A by law sets a $50 license fee for slot machines and imposes a fine for Sunday operation. The Court of Revision reports a light docket with no changes to assessment figures. Police will protect grounds at Beverly House from shrub removal.
Acton Council meets with Harrison presiding and names D A MacRae, head of Acton Continuation School, to the Free Library Board. The session covers licensing by law for mechanical amusements, a 47 mill tax rate for 1936, and assessment roll revisions.
Mrs. Lula Long Comba of Lee's Summit Missouri purchased the two year old Vuclairy-vatalilon alias View Marvel from W. O. Moffat. Last Saturday a telegram notified that the horse arrived at the new home in splendid condition.
Middle School students at Acton High School receive subject recommendations including English Literature English Composition Ancient History Algebra Geometry and Latin Authors. Shiela Breen wins the English prize donated by Misa MacKenzie of Shaws. Departmental exams begin Friday June 12.
Afig Loretta Moore and Norman Velt wed at Mount Pleasant farm with Rev. John Little officiating. The bride wore robin egg blue, carried lily of the valley, and guests from Detroit Guelph Rockwood Acton and Georgetown attended the ceremony and reception. The couple plans to reside at Mount Pleasant farm after a motor trip to Detroit and points West.
