Acton Youth Escapes Injury In Car Crash On Norval Bridge
Four youths in a car skidded on loose gravel near Norval and crashed into a bridge. William Churchill, 68 Churchwyk Acton, was pinned but freed by tow and uninjured. Three others Wayne Wilson Hank Uiterwyk and a McCoy youth sustained injuries. McCoy was treated at Peel Memorial Brampton Hospital for a cut forehead. Police report $600 damage. North Halton OPP assisted scene and investigated.

Erin Township Approves Land Purchase For Municipal Building Site
Erin Township council on May 31 approved buying land from H. J. Awrey for a municipal building site. A $1,000 cheque was authorized for the land payment. The council also approved funds for a Adams motor grader with snow plow and wing at $24,293 and to seek Ontario Municipal Board approval. Fine Sand Beaches Prepared at Fairy Lake Park
The Parks Board laid 40 tons of limestone and 8 tons of white sand at the Fairy Lake bathing area to create a proper beach. Caretaker Herb Fryer spent the day leveling and raking the newly spread sand while mowing and preparing the park for summer bathers.

Decoration Day Service Honors Dead At Acton Cemeteries
A large crowd attended the Decoration Day service in Acton as graves at Dublin Pioneer and Fairview cemeteries were decorated. The procession featured multiple bands and local groups marching from the CNR station to the cenotaph, where Rev. G A B Moore gave the address and wreaths were laid for fallen comrades. Mayor John Gay spoke on community remembers sacrifices as the gathering heard prayers and a Last Post.

High School Board Considers Yearly Scholarships and Bursaries
Acton Higa aeneo Board met Monday evening to review all possible scholarships and bursaries. It agreed to consider annual $400 in board scholarships for high achieving students and to have members review the proposed schedule before the next meeting. Finance chairman E S Force noted many university scholarships and government bursaries for grade 13 graduates and proposed publishing a list in the Year Book. Principal E A Hansen and secretary W Middleton will visit the Department of Education in Toronto to obtain a list. The board accepted the resignation of staff member D Bothwell who will take a position in North Bay next year. A gym clothing fund for girls and a building change order for indoor thresholds were approved, with the secretary to issue a $106.25 cheque. Accounts totaling $8,490.58 were approved for payment.
