Charles Kelly Brown, known as C K, marks his 90th birthday this Saturday in Acton. Born in Vasey near Elmwale, he managed Beardmore Coop store before moving to Mill Street North. Though ill today, his wife runs the shop as he recalls a lifetime of Conservative work and Orange Lodge leadership, with a wish for good health and more years.

Decoration Day Service Draws Crowd at Acton Cemeteries
A large turnout is expected for Acton's annual Decoration Day on Sunday June 5. The parade led by Vic Patrick will start at CNCR Sharp Street and proceed to the cenotaph and Fairview Cemetery for a service. Local dignitaries veterans and scouts will place wreaths sing hymns and hear Rev G A B Moore of Rockwood as speaker. After the ceremony veterans will visit Fairview Pioneer and Dublin cemeteries to decorate graves with multiple bands and community groups participating.
