Escapee Danuk Captured After Ontario Reformatory Break
More than 30 guards from the Ontario Reformatory in Guelph searched the Eden Mills Rockwood area for escaped inmate Ross Danuk a 28 year old Toronto man who fled Tuesday afternoon He was spotted on Highway 7 near Rockwood Wednesday morning and was recaptured by officials Residents aided the night long search in the swampy Eden Mills area Police had been alerted after a man acting suspiciously was reported Danuk would have been released August 13.

At the last public school board meeting before summer recess principal G W McKenzie reported nine teachers will take summer courses. The board, chaired by Tom Watson, approved church use of the auditorium for a October concert and engaged the Ontario Safety League for the annual safety program. The library seat vacancy was filled, a finance statement was approved, May plant operation assessed, and refinishing of stone school rooms was planned. A group of about 400 amateur artists from Halton Dufferin Peel Waterloo and Wellington counties joined a sketching trip. Over a dozen Actomans attended the session at a local school and later traveled to Conestoga Salomon to sketch under eight instructors. Acton District Man Injured in Fatal Two Car Crash
A two car collision north east of Acton on Monday left one dead and two injured. Nelson Chuck Henry 58 of Guelph died at the scene while Archie McKenzie and Herbert Henry were hospitalized with head and chest injuries. McKenzie suffered head injuries and Herbert Henry serious chest injuries. Police constable King Speicher investigated and reported no charges.
